From uncertain future to a facility looking to rapidly expand its services, the former McAuley Manor nursing home facility has taken a step towards stability as Elderwood of Hornell.
The transition officially happened in April, when staff began being payed by the new entity.
Post Acute Partners owns 28 facilities under the Elderwood banner, and will soon expand to 45 locations across the northeast.
On Tuesday, Post Acute Partners CEO Jeffery Rubin appeared at the North Hornell facility to update the community and address any concerns about continuum of care during the transition.
The purchase of McAuley Manor was a smooth one, according to Rubin.
"Hornell was number 27, and it was a delight bringing it under the Elderwood brand. They fit in seamlessly and flawlessly. It could not have been nicer," he said. "Hopefully no changes were noticed."
Rubin first met with about 40 residents of the facility, who expressed their desire to see updates to the building made sooner than later.
The CEO confirmed that they plan to make about $500,000 in renovations.

RIVERSIDE, RI – Elderwood at Riverside, 100 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside, has achieved the Bronze Commitment to Quality Award from the American Health Care Association. The award, the first of three distinctions possible through the AHCA National Quality Award Program, is based on criteria adopted from the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. To earn the award, residences must demonstrate outstanding performance in health care, customer satisfaction, financial, market, work force, process and leadership outcomes over time. The award is judged by a board of highly trained examiners from inside and outside the long-term care profession.
The National Quality Award program is a progressive process designed to encourage continuous quality improvement and provide a pathway for providers of long-term and post-acute care services to journey towards performance excellence.
Elderwood at Riverside is one of 538 long-term care facilities nationwide and among just seven facilities in Rhode Island to earn a 2016 Bronze Quality Award. The award will be formally presented during the AHCA Annual Convention in October.

Post Acute Partners will add to its 16 nursing home and senior living sites in Western New York by acquiring the nonprofit Lakeside Beikirch Care Center, a freestanding, facility offering skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation.
