BUFFALO, NY – Elderwood has honored four exemplary staff members for Service Excellence. Service Excellence Awards for 2017 were presented to Tara Wisniewski, community relations coordinator at Elderwood at Lancaster; Carol Merhoff, cook, Elderwood Village at Williamsville; Bonnie Sobol, RN, Elderwood at Williamsville, and Kelly Myhalenko, dietitian at Elderwood at Wheatfield. Considered Elderwood’s highest honor, the award is presented annually to staff who work toward providing quality health care and demonstrate honesty, integrity, reliability, teamwork and respect for co-workers, residents and families. To be considered for the award, staff must be full-time employees who have been with Elderwood10 years or longer. The Service Excellence Award was presented at Elderwood’s annual staff recognition celebration honoring employees marking milestone anniversaries of five, 10 or more years with the organization. In all, 33 percent of Elderwood staff have dedicated five or more years of service, and 20 percent of employees have been with Elderwood for 10 or more years. Epstein, The Buffalo News After nearly two years of uncertainty, Weinberg Campus agreed Wednesday to sell the majority of its main nursing home and senior care complex in Amherst to Post Acute Partners, the operators of Elderwood. The two companies earlier in the day signed a formal sale agreement. Post Acute will take over and continue to operate the Weinberg facilities at 2700 North Forest Road as part of its Elderwood network. The price was not disclosed. "We are very pleased to become part of Elderwood, Western New York’s preeminent long term care organization," Robert T. Mayer, Weinberg's president and CEO, wrote in a letter to residents and employees. "Elderwood is a quality operator of skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation, senior living communities and other post-acute care services, with a strong track record of success." The sale includes the Forest Creek and Meadows senior citizen apartments, the Rosa Coplon Living Center skilled nursing home, the Dosberg Manor and Garden House assisted-living facilities, Menorah Licensed Home Health Care Agency, Rosa Coplon Certified Home Health Agency and Rosa Coplon Outpatient Therapy. New ownership is coming to the Weinberg campus in Getzville. Photos by Jim Courtney By Tracey Drury  –  Reporter, Buffalo Business First   In what could be its biggest nursing home deal yet, Elderwood’s owners are working to acquire the majority of programs at Weinberg Campus in Getzville. The deal includes the Rosa Coplon Jewish Home nursing facility, Dosberg Manor Adult Home & Assisted Living; Forest Creek Independent Living Facility; Garden House Assisted Living; Meadows Assisted Living; the Town Square for Aging facility and a certified home health agency program. Though neither side would disclose the overall sale price yet, Elderwood owners agreed it is its biggest publicized deal since the $141 million acquisition that brought Post Acute Partners into the market in 2013. The variety of programs, and the reputation of Weinberg, made the acquisition especially appealing, said Warren Cole, co-owner of Post Acute Partners and the Elderwood senior care network, headquartered downtown at 500 Seneca. “It is a rare opportunity to buy a campus that’s highly regarded, beautifully constructed and beautifully situated with every level of care,” he said. “It’s really the holy grail of what we do.” The Weinberg deal is the next in a series of buys by Post Acute Partners around the state,...
