Elderwood Staffing Solutions offers per diem work opportunities for Western, Central New York caregivers

BUFFALO, NY – Elderwood has introduced Elderwood Staffing Solutions to its talent acquisition program to help maintain consistent staffing and continuous quality care. The in-house agency effectively creates a reserve work force of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants and home health aides to fill in during the temporary absence of an employee.

Working on an as-needed basis, or “per diem,” is common in the health care field. By forming a pool of on-call substitutes who have already gone through the hiring and orientation process, Elderwood can quickly fill staffing gaps with professional caregivers familiar with the company’s culture and protocols.

The “float pool” system appeals to caregivers looking for a flexible work schedule. A per diem staff member can be more selective about the days and shifts they work, a plus for people who are caring for a family, working toward a degree or interested in occasionally supplementing their income. Elderwood Staffing Solutions enables quick response to staffing situations at any of Elderwood’s skilled and assisted living communities in western and central New York. Per diem workers aren’t “attached” to one building, but can be placed wherever there is a need, although geographic preferences are considered.

Schedules of eight or 12 hour shifts are available. Caregivers can work in their area of specialty with opportunities for career growth and preferred status for internal promotions.

Elderwood Staffing Solutions continues to interview caregivers with a current New York State license and a minimum of two years’ experience, preferably in the field of senior care. Caregivers should be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per month and agree to work just one holiday per year. Weekend shifts are not required.
