Elderwood at Lockport Earns Three-Star Medicare Rating

LOCKPORT, NY Elderwood at Lockport, a subacute rehabilitation and long-term care community at 104 Old Niagara Road, Lockport, has earned a three-star rating from Medicare.gov. The 126 bed facility ranks first in multiple direct nursing categories. The number of LPN hours and Nurse Aide hours spent per resident, per day, are the highest of any skilled nursing facility in Niagara County. In less than three months, the facility’s star ranking increased to three stars since it was purchased by Elderwood in January.

The rating is based on statistics compiled by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that includes the facility’s internal reports, care plans, staffing and results of New York State health inspections, with a focus on quality of care. The increased ranking speaks to the investments being made into the facility and the high-quality level of care Elderwood brings to the community.

“We’re very proud of our hard-working staff who have made every effort to improve the quality of care within our facility,” said Administrator Shari Hutchison. “I know that our staff will continue working over the next year to increase the level of services we’re able to provide to residents.”

Elderwood at Lockport offers skilled nursing care, as well as services and programs such as cardiac and orthopedic rehabilitation, respite care, oncology care, would care, and speech, physical and occupational therapies.
