Belden named Director of Physical Therapy at Elderwood at Wheatfield

BUFFALO, NYAndrew Belden, PT, DPT, has been named director of rehabilitation services at Elderwood at Wheatfield, 2600 Niagara Falls Blvd., Wheatfield.

Belden received his bachelor and doctorate degrees from D’Youville College. He discovered his passion for skilled nursing and rehabilitation while working a variety of therapy jobs in North Carolina. Upon returning to Western New York, he worked at Elderwood at Grand Island for two years before assuming his current role.

“My primary focus is to make Elderwood at Wheatfield the premier destination for rehabilitation in Niagara County. We seek to excel in customer service, efficient discharge planning and outcome-driven short-term rehabilitation stays,” he says.

Recent renovations at Elderwood at Wheatfield have expanded the therapy gym and added a home simulation suite to work on activities of daily living. There is also an office specifically for speech therapy.

In addition, certain design modifications were incorporated into the renovations that benefit long-term residents with dementia. The therapy staff works closely with other departments to develop programs that blend therapy with activities that engage residents.
