Bothwell to lead Elderwood at Wheatfield

Denise Bothwell has been named executive director of Elderwood at Wheatfield community at 2600 Niagara Falls Blvd.

Bothwell previously held the role of administrator at Elderwood at Lancaster for more than five years and led the facility to become a center of excellence in quality, earning a five-star Medicare rating and 2017-18 Best Nursing Home ranking from U.S. News & World Report.

“She has developed a culture and exceptional environment for employees, a warm home for residents and outstanding service for patients,” Elderwood’s Chief Operations Officer Phil Quillard said. “I know that her experience, unique talents and leadership abilities will serve us well on this beautiful campus as we continue to expand services to that community.”

As executive director, she will oversee all aspects of operation for Elderwood at Wheatfield skilled nursing facility, Elderwood Assisted Living at Wheatfield and Elderwood Residences at Wheatfield, an independent living facility.

Elderwood provides skilled nursing care, specialized subacute care, rehabilitation, assisted living, independent living and memory care services in Western and Central New York, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania. Vilardo named to veterans affairs post

Atwal eye care glaucoma specialist Dr. Michael Vilardo has been named chief of ophthalmology services at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center of Western New York.

Vilardo has been on staff at the V.A. hospital as an assistant professor since 1998. He is a clinical assistant professor for glaucoma at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Department of Ophthalmology.

Vilardo is a Fellowship trained Glaucoma Specialist and has been in private practice in Western New York since 2002. He joined Atwal Eye Care in 2014 and currently practices at the Atwal 4800 N. French Road office in East Amherst. He graduated from the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Vilardo completed his Ophthalmology residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Fellowship in Glaucoma at the University of Wisconsin at Madison under Dr. Paul Kaufman.

LeChase hiresKozlowski as superintendent

LeChase Construction Services, LLC has announced the addition of Tony Kozlowski as a superintendent in its Buffalo office.

In this role, Kozlowski will direct the work of subcontractors, suppliers, foremen and other tradespeople working on the preconstruction, construction and post-construction phases of assigned projects, with a focus on safety, quality, productivity and scheduling.

Over the past four years, Kozlowski has worked on construction projects in the cultural, hospitality, education and multi-family housing sectors in Western New York. He has an AS degree in construction management from Erie Community College, and in 2016 earned LEED Green Associate certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. He currently resides in Lancaster.
